The 2 + 2 UDA Fellowship

Immerse yourself in the critical issues facing our cities today. UDA Fellows work in small teams on a broad range of urban and architectural design. We offer a two-year Fellowship with the opportunity to stay longer as you pursue licensure or certification. We're passionate about helping young professionals become experts in urban design and move into leadership positions.

Years 1 and 2

  • Work and travel as a member of a team on design projects around North America and abroad
  • Work with a UDA Mentor on AXP, LEED, & AICP progress
  • Pursue LEED Green Associate & ARE preparation and exam*

Years 3, 4, and Beyond

  • Leadership on a Design Team
  • Mentor Fellows
  • AICP Certification exam preparation & exam*

What is the ARE?
The Architect Registration Examination (ARE) assesses the minimum requirements to practice as an architect. UDA helps Fellows obtain many of the skills required by the AXP. To gain experience in areas such as Construction & Evaluation, we have assisted in placing designers with full-service architecture firms after their Fellowship to complete their requirements.

What is AICP?
The AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) exam certifies that you have mastered the skills and qualifications to practice as a Planner. You can qualify to take the test with an undergraduate degree and four years of professional experience. UDA provides the opportunity to fulfill all the requirements for the exam in four years.

*UDA will pay for professional exams and study materials
