Daybreak is a new, mixed-use community on a post-industrial site in the Salt Lake Valley. At the heart, is an arterial framework for a new town center that includes the TRAX light-rail line, connecting Daybreak to the region and Downtown Salt Lake City.  Following a successful residential building program, the UDA is assisting Kennecott Land Company to create a new overall vision, a Form-Based Code, and a master plan for fine-grain network of streets, passageways, open spaces to develop a Daybreak's Transit-Oriented (T.O.D.) Town Center.

The master plan program calls for 2 million square feet of office and up to 5,000 units of residential, anchored by 1 million square feet of institutional uses that includes a University of Utah Medical Center opening in 2012, a hospital, a performing arts center, a regional library, and secondary education.  In addition to substantially decreasing dependency on the automobile, Kennecott Land Company plans to continue their practice of high standards for sustainability in architecture, stormwater management, and energy efficiency.
