Award-winning vision for a world capital
In 2012, Moscow held an international competition for ideas on how to expand Moscow into newly acquired territory to the southwest. UDA led the Capital Cities Planning Group, one of ten teams to compete. The competition was organized in three stages: The Region, The Whole City, and the New Federal District. The UDA team was the winner of the Federal District design phase, a new satellite city center to accommodate federal and city offices, a university, and mixed-use development. The plan includes recommendations for rail and road infrastructure, strategies for management of valuable water resources, and sustainable development. Following the completion, UDA was commissioned for additional conceptual planning of the new district.
