Award winning vision for a world capitol

UDA was managing partner of the Capital Cities Planning Group, one of ten teams that participated in an international competition to forge a vision for the growth of Moscow. The team planned new districts southwest of the historic core in recently annexed land with new residential communities, universities, and a new federal district for the Russian government. The plan includes recommendations for rail and road infrastructure, strategies for management of valuable water resources, and sustainable development. Capital Cities Planning Group was selected by an international jury as the competition winner of the design for a new federal district.

“The designs demonstrated a thorough understanding of planning policy issues as well as a precise relationship between the overall conceptual ideas and the proposals for delivering these ideas on the ground.”

Alexander Kolontay, Deputy Director, Institute for the Masterplan of Moscow
