Garden Park Residential Architecture, South Jordan, Utah
Based on great, unique cottage communities, Garden Park is a new model for senior living. UDA provided services to design the fine grain of pedestrian-friendly streets, paseos, and open spaces. As an extension of master planning services, UDA provided architectural design services for a diverse range of building types including 10-unit attached buildings, rowhouses, and small cottages of varied sizes on small lots. In all cases, the architecture was designed to provide unique addresses within the plan while working together as a village ensemble.
To serve the diverse needs of today’s seniors, UDA designed highly-flexible and efficient designs that embrace the sustainable design principles of healthy living. The architecture included a palette of multiple styles, but with a common strategy to maximize the connection to the outdoors. Large openings connect interior living space to gardens, terraces, porches, and balconies. The first phase of construction began in 2009.
