| The building of Baxter is guided by the use of the UDA Pattern Book®. Each village in Baxter has its own distinct character formed by the rolling topography, woodlands, the design of the streets and neighborhood parks, and the placement and design of houses on the lots. The Pattern Book provides an Introduction describing the precedents and the intended character of the Baxter neighborhoods. Community Patterns describes the range of set-backs for houses and ancillary structures, the width of streets and parks, and the location of sidewalks and tree lawns for each neighborhood. The common areas of streets and parks are carefully designed as shared gardens and civic spaces—some formal and some informal. Architectural Patterns describes the range of architectural styles found in Upcountry neighborhoods, with key elements defined for architects and builders. Landscape Patterns describes the typical landscape palettes for lots based on indigenous plants. Traditional landscape treatments found in historic Upcountry towns and neighborhoods serve as models for the design of Baxter. |
