MIDDLE EAST NEIGHBORHOOD TRANSFORMATION |
 |
Charrette participants agreed that in order for this plan to succeed it is
necessary to transform the image of the Middle East Neighborhood.
Existing residents agreed that past efforts to rehabilitate houses on an individual basis had been unsuccessful and that
a more comprehensive neighborhood transformation would be required. In addition, the market study revealed that in order
to attract investment and new residents to the neighborhood, the neighborhood image needs to substantially improve.
To develop the plan for the Middle East Neighborhood, the design team tested alternative configurations to transform
the existing block patterns. |
