Baxter, the first village of a 6200 acre development being undertaken by the Close Springs Development Company in Fort Mill, South Carolina, embodies a remarkable concept for how to make a great place to live, work, raise children, enjoy the natural environment, and participate in building a community. The village is designed in the tradition of South Carolina’s Upcountry towns complete with tree-lined streets, neighborhood parks, and gracious houses with architectural details such as deep front porches that face the street, conveying a sense of neighborhood and civic place. Urban Design Associates joined the master planning team to refine and develop the Neighborhood Plan,Town Center, Health Campus, and Pattern Book. UDA also provided architectural services for key buildings and housing design.
