Summers Corner Lake House, summerville, South carolina
The Summers Corner Lake House was designed to connect this new low-country community to nature. The centerpiece of the composition, the lake house pavilion, was inspired by neoclassical heritage of Charleston as well as the natural surroundings. The east and west side of the pavilion is designed with six brick columns. Each side will provide the structural stability required for longevity and strength, but also to evoke the feeling of a ruin, a symbol of the re-introduction to a natural environment that was lost. The center bays of the pavilion are made with hardwood logs that evoke the developer’s past as a pulp and paper company. In addition to the pavilion, the site includes restrooms, a kayak launch, kayak racks and an event lawn.
