While UDA’s philosophy has always embraced green/sustainable principles, we established the UDA Green Initiative in 2007 to formalize and provide a point of focus for our efforts in this regard.
The goals of UDA Green are to:
Develop resources and incorporate best practice techniques applied to both our
professional practice and our own studios.
Reducing resource consumption, increasing energy efficiency, and
and improve livability through green techniques and applied common sense.
Create interdisciplinary collaborations with experts in other, related fields that
enhance UDA’s knowledge and leadership in this arena to the benefit of our
clients, the communities in which we work, and our own offices.

UDA actively engages in promoting and practicing sustainability through numerous initiatives and events. Key among these efforts are:
Our studio-wide Reduce/Reuse/Recycle Initiatives
Salons presented by experts on sustainability and current best practices for
living, working, and building green
Membership in the U.S. Green Building Council
LEED Technical Workshops and Certification Initiative with the goal of having
all UDA architects and urban designers LEED certified
Participation in community-supported agriculture efforts such as produce
subscriptions with local farmers
Participation in numerous local and regional organizations and networking
events focused on promoting green practices (e.g., the Green Building Alliance,
Sustainable Pittsburgh, Green Drinks)
Alignment with suppliers who also emphasize sustainable practices in their
own businesses |
