a pattern book for gulf coast neighborhoods

A pattern book to help rebuild a hurricane-ravaged state

After several hurricanes devastated the Gulf Coast towns, many buildings were destroyed or left unlivable. With the urgent need to rebuild stronger, developing a document to guide reconstruction efforts to address regional character became essential. With a team of contributions from others, UDA prepared a pattern book for traditional Gulf Coast homes and small commercial buildings. Whether repairing a damaged house, erecting a pre-manufactured house, or building with conventional means and methods, readers will find appropriate patterns to help guide the process of designing and building consistent with the traditions of the Gulf Coast.
