50-year Resiliency Plan for the Southwest Louisiana Region
Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes were devastated by Hurricanes Laura and Delta in the Fall of 2020 and weather events in the Spring of 2021. A generous donation to the Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana allowed for a comprehensive recovery initiative.
With a Louisiana-based team, UDA was selected to lead Imagine SWLA: A 50-Year Resilience Plan for Calcasieu & Cameron Parishes. Over the past seven months, the effort has engaged over 4,000 people and built support for ten projects to boost economic growth and improve quality of life. UDA has collaborated with state and local leaders, coordinated with agencies managing $450 million in recovery funds, and developed housing stabilization strategies. One key project outcome is the Resilience Housing Toolkit, guiding resilient building practices for homeowners and non-profits.
