Larimer Choice Neighborhood
A comprehensive strategy for neighborhood revitalization
UDA was engaged by McCormack Baron Salazar and the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh to facilitate the redevelopment of the East Liberty/Larimer neighborhoods. UDA led an in-depth engagement with stakeholders, residents, and members of the community, working to build consensus around the plan. Green infrastructure and sustainability were cornerstones of the neighborhood plan. The neighborhood is designed as a model for stormwater management innovation in the city. In addition to redeveloping mixed-income housing and mixed-use retail along the historic main street, a phased strategy for targeting infill on vacant lots and problem properties helped stitch the neighborhood fabric and the new development together.
